Politicians Are Not Following Their Own Coronavirus Policies

Across the world, Politicians, media hosts, and many others that agree with the Coronavirus lockdowns have not been following the policies that they have agreed on and set in place.

Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot put out an advertisement that told the people to only go out for essential reasons. Lori said in the advertisement “getting your roots done is not essential”. Shortly after this advertisement that Lori made, she went to a hair salon. It was found out by the public that she went to a hair salon and when asked on the matter, she said “I’m the public face of this city. I’m on national media and I’m out in the public eye. I take my personal hygiene very seriously. As I said, I felt like I needed to have a haircut. I’m not able to do that myself, so I got a haircut.” So what Lori Lightfoot is saying is that she is “on national media” and “out in the public eye” and since she takes her “personal hygiene very seriously”, she needs a haircut and is more important than the rest of the population.

Chris Cuomo was spotted outside of his house walking before his self-quarantine ended. Chris was spotted by David, who was biking and saw Chris walking. David decided to confront Chris. David said Chris was screaming at him, “I can do what I want”. On the same Monday, Chris said on the radio “I  don’t want some jackass, loser, fat tire biker being able to pull over and get in my space and talk bulls***”. Even with all of this, CNN still decided to record Chris coming upstairs to see his family in what was supposedly his first time in a few weeks.

Imperial College epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, who warned the United Kingdom that death tolls from the coronavirus could be in the hundreds of thousands was later found to have a woman which he had a relationship with, visits him from across London. Neil confirmed that he did in fact have a woman visit his house. Neil’s excuse was he “made an error of judgment and took the wrong course of action”. His “error of judgment” was “I acted in the belief that I was immune, having tested positive for coronavirus and completely isolated myself for almost two weeks after developing symptoms”. The British lockdown rules that apply to everyone in Britain does not allow people to visit friends or family that they do not live with.  So Neil Ferguson is allowed to have people because he believes he is immune to the virus, but if you think you are immune you are not allowed. After Neil was caught, he resigned from his current position.

According to Neil Ferguson’s data and predictions, about a million people would die in America due to Coronavirus. So far., Neil’s prediction has been dead wrong. On May 29th (A few months into the pandemic) there have only been one hundred and five thousand deaths in America due to coronavirus according to Google. That is nearly ten percent of the total deaths in America that Neil predicted. The virus is on the decline so it is highly unlikely that the total number of coronavirus deaths will be even remotely close to Neil’s prediction.

Salon owner Shelley Luther reopened her salon because she and her employees needed money. Sher kept operating her business even after a cease-and-desist letter demanding for her to close. Shelley ripped the letter in front of a crowd of protestors during a rally. She told Judge Clay Jenkins, to “come and get it”. She later received charges from judge Moyé who said she could make it right if she admitted that her actions were selfish and would follow the law. In response to this Judge’s demands, Shelley responded with “I have to disagree with you, sir, when you say that I’m selfish, because feeding my kids is not selfish” and “I have hair stylists that are going hungry because they’d rather feed their kids. So, sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed, then please go ahead with your decision, but I am not going to shut down the salon”. The judge sentenced her to 7 days in jail. The supreme court of texas got word of this Judge’s unconstitutional actions and ordered that Shelley be released. Salons quickly got reopened in Texas due to Shelley’s actions. Governor Greg Abbott, then said that jail time was to be the last resort for people who disobey his executive order. This just shows how absurd most of these stay at home orders are. Shelley had employees that could not feed their families so she stood up to the tyranny and got thrown in jail by a power-hungry judge.

Senators have not been following social distancing guidelines in their meetings. When passing the 2 trillion dollar bill on March 26th, they were given 30 minutes to vote instead of the usual 15 minutes to vote. With this, they still were not practicing social distancing guidelines. The CDC says the social distancing guidelines are as follows “remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible.” which is ironic because the senate is participating in a “mass gathering”. The senators were also seen standing close together and talking. So the Senate is allowed to participate in mass gatherings while we are to do as we are told.

With many government officials and Media supporting the lockdown who are not following the guidelines, this leads to the question: why are these people supporting the lockdown but do not follow their own rules? There are a few answers to this. Many people who are in power because they enjoy power. Many politicians can be viewed as bullies who just want to be in charge of other people’s lives. With the coronavirus, politicians have finally been given an excuse to control everyone’s life.

The second reason why some politicians might be putting these guidelines in place and enforcing people to stay home is that they want the economy to fail. As many know, election day is right around the corner, and this gives democrats the ability to make Trump look bad. If one were to freeze the economy for a few months, the economy would plummet and many would lose their jobs. This is one method many politicians are using to try to make Trump look bad, but these people with political power are also making themselves look bad because closing the economy is killing many people.

The third reason is unlimited spending. Many politicians want unlimited money to fund their programs. The coronavirus has opened a backdoor to funding for these politicians to exploit. As speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says about the 3 trillion dollar Coronavirus bill on behalf of democrats, “We think this is what is necessary to meet the needs of the American people”. This shows that Nancy is saying that the 3 trillion dollar bill is necessary and there is no other alternative. But there is another alternative that the left does not want to talk about. This alternative is opening up the country again. So many politicians are using the coronavirus to borrow as much money as they please. Doing this is a terrible idea because the amount of money that the U.S. is currently borrowing could cause the country to go bankrupt. If the country were to borrow too much, then the interest itself could be more than the U.S. budget could sustain.
